THE SONG:
Title track of the album, this seemingly meaningless earbug is actually a punchy, politically driven call to arms. With this, the band put themselves open to criticism, but it never deterred them. Why would it? They’re Green Day.
THE MUSICAL:
These inspired Spring Awakening’s Michael Mayer to create an on-stage adaptation of the massively popular album. A perfect way to broadcast that while American Idiot is wall to wall good music, it also tells a story. An all singing, all dancing story on Broadway, baby!
THE MOVIE?
Talk is in place, and American Idiot the screen adaptation looks to hit our screens in 2013. Although things are still very early in development, Tom Hanks seems to be leading at the helm, and there is a possibility Green Day’s own frontman Billie Joe Armstrong will play the lead role of St Jimmy.
